Hello from the Principal
Welcome back to Stoneham Middle School.

Many changes and many new faces will be seen at the Middle School this year. ~~Among our new staff, I am pleased to introduce Ms. Bonnie Jolie (Gr. 6 Social Studies), Ms. Michelle Zavez (Gr. 8 Math), Ms. Allison Crabtree(Special Education), Ms. Ashlen MacEachern (Special Education), Ms. Kassie Merrill (Study Skills Enrichment), Ms. Crystal Cakounes (Gr. 6 Science) and Mrs. Kathleen Peterson (Gr.6 Science), Ms. Caileen Mahoney ( Math Enrichment), Ms. Anita Ciminelli ( Librarian), Mr. Tim Cummings ( Gr. 7 English). Mr. Jake Sugermen (Gr. 7 Social Studies), Ms. Kia Petrie (Gr. 8 Science), Ms. Lori Bokowy ( Health), Ms. Cara Wojcik ( Art) As always, we will all work together to keep our middle school a positive and safe learning environment.

Among the improvements we are pleased to have our Health Program reinstated and, due to the arduous work of a parent committee, our cafeteria has been painted. In addition, this school year, we have the return of intramurals, a jazz band and many other exciting after school activities. I will keep everyone updated regarding these programs.

Encourage your children to become involved in their school through community service activities, peer tutoring, math team, media club, Junior Great Books Club, and student council. ~All these extra-curricular activities are funded through grants and donations from local businesses/organizations and private citizens

As we enter the 2009-2010 school year, keep in mind that our school strives to create confident learners, develop community-minded citizens and promote respectful behavior. ~The core values are ever-present in our daily routine both in and outside of the classroom. ~We have high expectations that our students will act as good citizens, work hard and behave with the manners that make all of us proud.

Through the efforts of our PTO, our students will experience many diverse interesting enrichment programs throughout the school year. The programs run the educational gamut from a Holocaust survivor to Poetry in Motion to Pyramids and Pharaohs.

Getting involved in the school community bonds us together as we strive toward our goals of success and respect. ~Accordingly, parents are encouraged to get involved also. ~Please join a committee on the PTO, come chaperone a dance or help on a field trip. Above all, we can work together, stay positive, study hard, and reap the benefits of these efforts during the school year.

I wish everyone a great school year; do not hesitate to call Mrs. Fulmer or me with any questions. Please~read the Handbook which is included in our newly designed agenda book. Clarifications on school rules such as dress code and attendance should be noted.

Let’s all work toward making this school year successful.
